Dancique opened in January 2014 to offer a dedicated pointe shoe fitting service that was lacking in the Midlands.

Starting small, in a room above a dance studio, it quickly became apparent that the business needed to expand. Luckily, the row of shops we are now in became available and within 7 months of starting out we had moved into our current home.

Helene and I set up Dancique having had 20+years of working as Physiotherapists. We both wanted to take a change of direction in our career and have/have had children who dance at vocational level so pointe shoes, and the correct fitting, were of an interest to us both. We feel that we were able to apply our extensive experience as Physiotherapists to understand pointe shoe fitting at a deeper level.

Helene left Dancique in the summer of 2017 to live abroad. Lucy and Helen have joined the team and are now fully trained pointe shoe fitters

We all love engaging with our customers. Sharing information during the fitting process is key and we feel that this helps dancers (and their parents) understand the shoes they are fitted with. Questions are actively encouraged. No two feet are the same which makes our job all the more interesting.

Since opening, our reputation has grown. Customers will travel from all over the UK to visit us. Our suppliers will always let us know about new shoes coming onto the market and we are always looking to increase/improve the choice offered to our customers. Over time our stock has changed to reflect the needs of our customers. We feel happy that we have a style of shoe for every dancer. If we can’t find “ that shoe “ we will always order shoes in. We will never sell you a shoe that we are not happy about if we know that there is a better option out there.

Local (and not so local) dance schools recommend our fitting service to their dancers. We supply a growing number of dance schools and organisations with their uniform and shoes. We welcome dance teachers to contact us to talk through specific shoe requirements for any of their dancers or uniform requests. When dance teachers attend fittings we really do enjoy the input and feedback.

The main focus of our business will always be pointe shoe fitting however, we also stock a range of jazz, tap, character and soft ballet shoes from tiny child sizes to large adult. Alongside these, we sell uniforms and a huge variety of child and adult sized leotards, warm-ups and accessories.

Customer satisfaction is our priority so why not take a trip to Birmingham to come and meet us.
